Stop Click "Request a showing" on Zillow! Here's Why:
Buyer Representation
Once you find yourself on zillow looking at properties for sale, it is important to find your “go-to” agent. I find way too many people clicking “request more info” or, “request a showing” on zillow.
By doing this, you are not getting any representation. Majority of the time, you are actually just getting connected with the seller's agent. Now, why would you want to talk to the person that is only going to tell you what you want to hear? Why would you want to get connected to an agent that is only looking out for the sellers best interest?
Wanting to just speak directly to the seller's agent is not suggested for many reasons…
Again, find a real estate agent that you want to represent you. Let him/her get all your information for you. Let him/her coordinate your showings..etc By doing so, you will have your point of contact for every property that you inquire on. You will have a relationship being built. You will not have to relay the same information about what you’re looking for over and over again to different agents, and make the small talk about “where are you from”, “Are you pre-approved” every-time you want to see a house.
Let your guard down. Your agent is only going to get paid IF you successfully purchase a property. There is no obligation to pay your “buyers agent” up-front. Therefore, if you are in the market to purchase a property, find an agent you like, and make them your “go-to” agent for every home.
